Productive daily Stand-up meetings

As I promised here, in the coming weeks I’m going to publish a few personal tips and examples that can help SEOs in their day-to-day.

This time, I’d like to share 3 very quick tips to make your Stand-up meetings more efficient.

But first, why do it every day? Standing simply isn’t as comfortable as sitting, motivating attendees to stay on topic, which helps keep the meeting short and effective. A daily meeting helps constantly monitor progress and ensures that we’re never blocked from moving forward by more than a single day. It keeps everyone updated and focused on each day’s top priorities.

And to the tips I promised: 1. The earlier you start the stand-up, the more effective the rest of your day will be. If you start working at 9, hold the meeting at 9:15 or 9:30. Definitely do not wait till 11:00.

2. Something that can help kickstart your stand-up fast is a list of the tasks assigned the day before. Dedicating the last 5 minutes of each day to compiling a list of the things you didn’t finish and the things you must do tomorrow helps focus the following morning and ensures that your priorities are fresh and on point.

3. In case you also have a company-wide task board, occasionally, make sure to show it to your team so they can see everything that the company as a whole is working on. In this way, every team member gets a much stronger sense of how even the smallest of his or her tasks contributes to the company’s long term goals; this is a great way for your team to understand the big picture in just minutes.
